Game Recaps September 18, 2022
Pact Mules. The Pact mules found a "cricket person" wandering around on Level Seven just before walking into a familiar yet strange-shaped door. Negotiations were had, and they were turning out pretty well. The new cricket person friend wandered, and then all hecks broke loose. This week we catch up with the team somewhat united but fighting some major footsoldiers for the Xanathar Guild.
Heroes of Wildspace. Our Tuesday afternoon Spelljammer crew spent their time on Bral investigating a mystery and asking about a missing item. I am being vague here because I want to run this encounter as a one-shot sometime soon and avoid spoilers! The team is gelling and figuring out their roles; we got some excellent role play and character development; when we play this week, we roll for initiative!
Family Table Mad Mage. Wednesdays are for Mad Mage, and our squad kept exploring level one. They encountered the Mad Mage himself and learned a little more about why they were down here and what to expect. A few goblin fights later, we are getting closer to finding the way down to level two!
Wednesday Night Mad Mage. It was epic. The most epic. All of the epic. I can not explain what happened without spoiling the level for someone else, so I will say fighting a dragon with a dragon at your side tends to be pretty wild.
Ghosts of Spelljammer. The team made friends with a Troll and made some advancements in learning their language. I enjoyed the travel and the chance for character development and role play this week. The team found the asteroid they were looking for, but also, some less-than-friendly critters occupied it!
Laughing Head Insurance Company. The team had a great night of roleplay and got some intense combat in during the second half of the evening. Their ever-changing agenda now includes eradicating the clown scourge and cornering the market on Giant Space Hamster meat. They might also now be arms dealers.
Frozen Few. We took the week off as I was in Austin this weekend celebrating my daughter's birthday; we return to Solstice Island this week!
Ghosts of Spelljammer PBP. Our team browsed the Great market and continued to take in all of the sights of Bral. They are enjoying some layered pasta at the Laughing Beholder and are about to chase down a mystery on the Rock this week.
Thunder Buddies PBP. The thunder buddies return to Everlund this week! They reunite with their gnomish friend and some of the horses. They have a wide selection of escaped prisoners from the Giant's cave outpost. Noche, one of the player's friendly raven friend, seems to have wandered off; we will find out what all that is about this week!
Wise Witches of Rashemen. The team did it; they took out the tree and released the demon within, ending the corruption in the forest. The battle was hard fought, and it took quite a bit to locate the source, but they rallied and took care of it. We wrapped our time in Rashemen together with this event with many questions left wide open, including an acorn from a once proud tree that will be planted elsewhere. I had a lot of fun with this group; my favorite part was the creative characters everyone made!
I am trying something different for some game openings and have an announcement on my discord server. A few folks have asked about Storm Kings Thunder (both live and text-based), Strahd, and Spelljammer. I have been enjoying the heck out of Spelljammer and feeling a bounty hunter vibe. We are currently mustering a few folks to see what we can play next, either PBP or on Mondays/Saturdays. And I will also be doing a PBP duet with a player starting this week. Lots going on as usual!
